The 2028 Major League Baseball All-Star Game is headed back to the Bay.
The league announced on Friday the game will be played at Oracle Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants.
It will be the fourth time San Francisco has hosted the game and first since 2007 when Oracle Park was still called AT&T Stadium. Last month, MLBPA head Bruce Meyer told reporters the belief was San Francisco would be awarded the game to accommodate potential player participation in the Los Angeles Olympics that summer. No deal has been reached as of yet for Major League Baseball involvement.
With the 2027 game being held at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale reports the expectation is that the Toronto Blue Jays will host the 2029 All-Star Game at Rogers Centre. Toronto has played host to the game just once, back in 1991. Multiple teams have hosted two games since Toronto last hosted in 1991.
The longest current drought in between hosting gigs belongs to the Athletics, who last hosted in 1987. With the team set to relocate to Las Vegas in the coming years, a game is expected to be awarded to the new stadium. The Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays have yet to host an All-Star Game.
The 2026 All-Star Game was held at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, last month. The American League won 4-0, limiting the National League to just three hits. The Jays’ Dylan Cease got the win for the AL.
