Anthony Santander’s return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup begins on Thursday.

The team announced that the 30-year-old slugger will play in the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons game against the Rochester Red Wings later in the evening.

Santander has been sidelined since May 29 with a shoulder injury. His rehab assignment had been set to begin earlier in the week, but it was postponed due to back tightness. The native of Isla Margarita, Venezuela is currently on the 60-day injured list.

Santander signed a five-year, $92.5 million deal with the Jays in January after spending the first eight years of his career with the Baltimore Orioles.

An All-Star in 2024, Santander appeared in 50 games for the Blue Jays in 2025 prior to his injury. He was batting .179 with 33 hits, six home runs, 18 runs batted in and an OPS of .577.

The team hopes to get Santander into at least five games before recalling him to the majors.
