George Springer is not in the Toronto Blue Jays’ starting lineup for the second straight day as they wrap up a series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Springer was removed from Saturday’s starting lineup due to left shoulder tightness. He did appear in the game as a pinch-runner for Alejandro Kirk in the eighth inning but did not take an at-bat.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will DH Sunday afternoon with Kazuma Okamoto getting the nod at first base.
Springer’s last full game came in the series-opener Friday night when he finished 1-for-4 with a walk as DH.
The 36-year-old Springer has 12 home runs and 36 RBI with a slash line of .234/.317/.396 in 87 games so far this season.
The Jays enter play Sunday six games under .500 at 56-62 three and a half games out of the final American League wild-card spot. Toronto has won three of their last four games and seven of their last 10.
