The Minnesota Twins have designated struggling pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson for assignment, it was announced Saturday.
The 25-year-old has a 7.74 ERA in 12 appearances this season split between the rotation and the bullpen, but was solid the two seasons before pitching as a starter.
Woods Richardson made a combined 51 appearances in 2024 and 2025 -- 50 of them starts -- and had a 4.11 ERA with 224 strikeouts in 245.0 innings pitched.
A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Woods Richardson was drafted by the New York Mets in the second round in 2018 and was later acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays a year later in a deal involving Marcus Stroman. The Jays then traded Woods Richardson, along with Austin Martin, to the Twins in a deal involving Jose Berrios.
The Twins enter play Saturday third in the American League Central at 27-31.
