MOOSIC, Pa. (AP) — The New York Yankees’ Triple-A farm team has rebranded itself as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Highlanders, the nickname of the parent club from 1903-12.

The Triple-A team affiliated with New York for the 2007 season and was known at first as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. It was called the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders from 2013-26.

New York was at first called the Highlanders because it played home games at Hilltop Park in upper Manhattan. The nickname changed when the team moved to the Polo Grounds in 1913.

Scranton said the new nickname is appropriate given PNC Field, its ballpark, is surrounded by hills.
