Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage has landed on the injured list.
The 23-year-old starter was placed on the 15-day IL with knee inflammation, the team announced on Wednesday.
Reliever Chad Dallas has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, while right-handed pitchers Lazaro Estrada and Chase Lee have been recalled in corresponding moves.
Yesavage pitched just two innings in Tuesday’s start against the Houston Astros, leaving the game with the knee injury just before the start of the bottom half of third.
The rookie hurler’s knee buckled while was throwing his warm-up pitches, garnering a visit on the mound from manager John Schneider and the training staff. He would throw one more pitch in his warmup before pulling himself from the game.
Schneider later told reporters that his starter was feeling a pinching sensation in his knee that prevented him from balancing.
Yesavage allowed one walk and no hits over his two innings of work, throwing 16 of his 27 pitches for strikes.
Pitching in his first full season at the major-league level, the 2024 first-rounder carries a 5-5 record with a 3.65 earned run average, 1.14 WHIP, and 91 strikeouts through 93.2 innings pitched.
Dallas would come into the game in place of the injured Yesavage, allowing seven hits and six earned runs over three innings of work. He now heads down to Buffalo after throwing 74 pitches in the outing.
Estrada, 27, has made four appearances for the Blue Jays this season, pitching to a 4.82 ERA in 9.1 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday to make room for newly-acquired starter Jose Soriano on the 26-man roster.
Lee, 27, heads back to the big-league club after previously throwing 3.1 innings in three appearances for Toronto earlier this year.

Toronto sends Jameson Taillon (2-6, 5.92 ERA) to the mound in the series-finale against the Astros on Wednesday, before heading to Wrigley Field to take on the Cubs in a make-up game for a June 21 rainout.
