Los Angeles Clippers fans won’t be able to get a look at Brandon Ingram on his new team just yet.
The team announced on Monday that the recently acquired forward is recuperating from a partially torn Achilles and won’t be ready at the start of the season.
The injury was discovered after offseason heel surgery. There is no timeline for his return.
A 29-year-old native of Kinston, NC, Ingram was traded to the Clippers this summer as part of the deal that saw Kawhi Leonard return to the Toronto Raptors.
An All-Star last year with the Dinos, Ingram appeared in 77 games in 2025-2026, the most since his rookie season in 2016-2017, averaging 21.5 points on .477 shooting with 5.6 boards and 3.7 assists over 33.8 minutes a night.
Originally taken with the second overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft out of Duke, Ingram is back in Los Angeles having spent the first three seasons of his career with the Lakers. He was dealt to the New Orleans Pelicans ahead of the 2019-2020 season as part of the trade that took Anthony Davis to the Lakers. Ingram spent six seasons with the Pels before being traded to the Raptors in 2025.
Ingram signed a three-year, $120 million deal with the Raptors following his trade to the team. Now entering the second season of the pact, Ingram has a $41.9 million player option for 2027-2028.
The Clippers open up their preseason on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors. The team makes its regular season bow on Oct. 21 at home to the Sacramento Kings.
