Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard missed Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with left knee swelling, it was announced prior to tip-off.
It was Leonard’s first missed game of the regular season. According to TSN’s Raegan Subban, Leonard will be evaluated on Monday.
Leonard had 23 points in 23:56 in his Raptors re-debut in Wednesday’s lopsided season-opener win against the Chicago Bulls. He followed that up with 19 points in 27:41 against the Washington Wizards Friday night as the Raps moved to 2-0 on the season.
Leonard is averaging 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds on 32.4 per cent shooting through his first two games this season.
He averaged a career-best 27.9 points a night in 65 games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Leonard’s absence was apparent in Sunday’s game, as the Raps were blown out 117-94 for their first loss of the season.
They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against the Orlando Magic.
