New Orleans Pelicans forward Saddiq Bey has agreed to a three-year, $55.5 million contract extension with the franchise, a deal that also includes a trade kicker, his agents James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN.
Bey missed the 2024-25 season after sustaining a torn ACL while with the Atlanta Hawks but had a resurgent first full season back last year with New Orleans, averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game. He is now locked into a fully guaranteed deal through 2029-30 with the Pelicans.
Bey appeared in 72 games for the Pelicans last season, including 64 starts. On top of his career-best scoring average, Bey also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Last season, Bey recorded three of the four highest-scoring games of his career during his bounce-back year with the Pelicans -- a 42-point effort against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 26, a 36-point outing against the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 23 and a 34-point night Jan. 31 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
He also averaged 20 points per game and shot 40% from the 3-point line after last season's All-Star break, according to ESPN Research, while also averaging career highs in both 2-point baskets attempted/made as well as free throws attempted/made each game.
Bey was originally drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft.
In 364 career games with the Pistons, Hawks and Pelicans, Bey holds career averages of 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and two assists per game.
The Pelicans tip off their preseason schedule against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 6 and host the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 21 to open the regular season.
