Jenkins served as an assistant with the Bucks in 2018-2019 under Mike Budenholzer. He left the team to become head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, a position he held until late into the 2024-2025 season. The job was Jenkins’ first as a head coach.
Under Jenkins, the Grizzlies made the playoffs in three of his first five seasons on the job and was on course to another appearance when he was fired in March of 25. The team had a 44-29 record at the time of his dismissal. Jenkins finished his Memphis tenure with a record of 250-214 (.539).
Prior to joining the Bucks, Jenkins spent five seasons as an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks, also under Budenholzer.
Jenkins succeeds Doc Rivers, who stepped down as Bucks head coach after two three seasons earlier this month.
