Sources: Knicks waiving Brown, keeping Wiseman

The New York Knicks waived Bruce Brown and will keep James Wiseman on the roster as the team heads into its regular-season opener.

Brown was one of several players on non-guaranteed deals vying for one of New York's final two available roster spots. Tony Bradley, Ochai Agbaji and Drew Eubanks were all also waived in recent days.

Wiseman appeared in all four of the Knicks' preseason games and impressed in 24 minutes vs. the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, when he scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Knicks could have kept Brown and Wiseman, but because they are only $3.2 million below their self-imposed hard cap at the second apron, retaining both players would've been difficult.

Wiseman, 25, will join Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond in New York's center rotation. The reigning NBA champions lost key reserve big man Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics this past summer via free agency.

The Knicks begin the NBA's regular season Tuesday, when they host the new-look Philadelphia 76ers.
