The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without forward Jaden McDaniels for at least the next few games, but they are getting Anthony Edwards back for Monday's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Timberwolves said McDaniels is week-to-week because of a left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. McDaniels injured the knee late in Wednesday's overtime win over the Houston Rockets and missed the Wolves' loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

Edwards, meanwhile, has missed the past six games because of a right knee injury. For him to qualify for end-of-season awards, such as All-NBA, Edwards needed to play Monday and not miss another regular-season game.

It's a critical time for the Wolves as they are in a tight seeding battle in the Western Conference with eight games to go in the regular season. They entered Monday night tied for the No. 5 seed with the Rockets and five games up in the loss column on the Phoenix Suns, who are the No. 7 seed.

McDaniels has been one of the Wolves' iron men over the years, playing more than 70 games in all but one of his six seasons in the NBA. He's averaging 14.8 points, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks this season and is Minnesota's best perimeter defender.

The first round of the NBA playoffs begins April 18.
