The Pokes have their man.
Oklahoma State named Eric Morris the 25th head coach in program history on Tuesday.
Morris, 40, is currently in his third season at North Texas. He succeeds Mike Gundy, who was fired in September, three games into his 21st season at the helm of the Cowboys.
“Today begins the next era of Oklahoma State Football,” school athletic director Chad Weiberg said in a statement. “I am thrilled to introduce Eric Morris, his wife Maggie and their boys Jack and George to the OSU Family. Coach Morris has proven his ability to build and lead winning football programs. He has consistently identified, recruited, and developed some of the best players in college football.”
Prior to joining the Mean Green, Morris served as head coach at Incarnate Word and also spent time on the coaching staffs of Houston, Washington State and Texas Tech.
North Texas is 10-1 on the season and can reach the College Football Playoff by winning the American. They finish their regular season on Friday with a visit to Temple (5-6).
