Justin Simmons is now an ex-football player.
The four-time All-Pro safety announced his retirement on Wednesday after nine NFL seasons.
Simmons, 32, did not play in 2025, suiting up for the last time in 2024 with the Atlanta Falcons. He spent the previous eight seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos.
Originally taken with the 98th overall pick in 2016 out of Boston College, Simmons says he’s looking forward to being a fan now.
“I don’t want to go sit in a suite,” Simmons told the Broncos website. “I want to go sit as close as I can, maybe in the lower bowl, and cheer on the team. I’ve never gotten to do that, as crazy as that sounds. I want to go tailgate; I want to see the crazy Instagram people that have crazy fire trucks and all of those things. I’ve never gotten to do that, and I’ve never gotten to experience those types of things.”
A native of Manassas, VA, Simmons finishes his career with 666 tackles, 32 interceptions and 71 passes defended in 134 career games.
