The Buffalo Bills signed veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White to their practice squad on Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. The 31-year-old appeared in 18 games last season with the Bills, including two playoff games.
As Schefter reports, White will work to get up to game speed and get acclimated with the defensive game plan with the practice squad before he is elevated to the active roster.
This will mark White’s third run with the Bills, who originally drafted the native of Shreveport, LA with the 27th-overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. White spent the first seven seasons of his career in Buffalo, where he was named to two Pro Bowls and earned a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2019, before spending a season split between the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens in 2024.
White rejoined the Bills a season ago, where he recorded one interception and 10 passes defended along with 40 tackles in 16 regular-season games. He recorded three passes defended, including a game-saving deflection late in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ 27-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round that sealed the victory.
White joins a Bills secondary that has struggled mightily in its first year under newly-hired defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. The Bills are 5-1 through the first six weeks of the season, but have allowed the second-most passing yards (1,715) and fourth-most passing touchdowns (15) of any defence in the league.
The Bills have a bye week in Week 7 before they take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, where they will be missing safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who received a one-game suspension for spitting on opposing players in Week 6.
