Jameson Taillon’s home debut with the Toronto Blue Jays ended after just four innings.
The veteran right-hander left Monday’s start against the Boston Red Sox after the top half of the fourth with what the team later called “right forearm discomfort”.
Taillon, 34, recorded three strikeouts and did not allow a run during the start. He surrendered one hit and three walks before departing.
Simeon Woods-Richardson came into the ballgame to begin the top of the fifth after being recalled from Triple-A earlier on Monday.
After the game, manager John Schneider told reporters the 6-foot-5, 230 pound hurler will have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
Taillon was making his second start for the Blue Jays since coming over from the Chicago Cubs before last week’s trade deadline.
In his first start against the Houston Astros, Taillon gave up three earned runs while striking out four in Toronto’s 5-4 extra-innings victory.
Born to Canadian parents in Lakeland, Fla. Taillon has made 17 starts this season between the Cubs and Blue Jays, carrying a 5.96 earned run average and a 1.39 WHIP, collecting 72 strikeouts to 28 walks across 80 innings.
