Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will not face any discipline for his shove of a Buffalo Bills fan during Sunday night’s 41-40 loss, the league announced on Thursday.
The NFL considers the matter closed.
“The matter has been addressed by the club and there is no further action from the league,” the NFL said in a statement.
With just over a minute remaining in the third quarter of the game, Jackson hit wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to make it 34-19 Ravens. As the Ravens celebrated in the end zone, a Bills fan reached over to slap the helmet of Hopkins. Just as he was to do the same to Jackson, the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player shoved the man. The man was immediately escorted from Highmark Stadium and was subsequently banned from all future NFL events.
On Wednesday, Jackson offered an apology during his media availability.
“It just happened,” Jackson said. “I got pushed. I’m like, ‘What?’ I wasn’t even thinking about me being out there on the field. My apologies to him...just chill next time. “You can talk trash and stuff, but keep your hands to yourself.”
The Ravens (0-1) return to action on Sunday with a visit to AFC North rival Cleveland Browns (0-1).
