Aaron Donald’s potential return to the Los Angeles Rams is one step closer.
The 35-year-old franchise icon officially worked out for the team on Wednesday according to the NFL’s transactions wire.
A three-time Defensive Player of the Year, the defensive tackle had retired after the 2023 season.
Should Donald return, his presence would add to an already formidable pass rush featuring the newly acquired Myles Garrett, Kobie Turner and Byron Young.
A native of Pittsburgh, Donald was originally taken with the 13th overall selection of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Pitt.
He would go on to appear in 154 games over 10 seasons, all with the Rams, recording 543 tackles, 24 forced fumbles and 111.0 sacks.
An eight-time first-team All-Pro, Donald was a key contributor to the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI triumph. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.
The Rams open up their preseason schedule on Aug. 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs. They make their regular season bow on Sept. 10 at home to the San Francisco 49ers.
