This week, keep an eye on a pair of exciting, mobile quarterbacks looking to bounce back from injury-marred campaigns in a big way.
Daniel Jones - Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens – 1 p.m.
Daniel Jones entered the 2025 campaign more or less an afterthought in his first season in Indianapolis. He won the starting QB job after a training camp battle with Anthony Richardson, and transformed Shane Steichen’s offence into an unexpected juggernaut.
Jones led the Colts to an 8-2 record out of the gate, with the Colts scoring more than 30 points in seven of those games. Injuries slowed him from there though – he suffered a fractured fibula in a Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and his season ended officially two weeks later when he suffered a ruptured Achilles.
“At first, you’re just in disbelief. You’re like, ‘No way this is happening right now. Not now,” Jones said after the game. “There’s just disappointment. I think the season to that point was the most fun I had playing football in the NFL. We had played well... I think you realize pretty quickly you’re not going to be a part of that anymore. And that was the toughest part.”
Jones was putting up the best numbers of his career to that point, too - a career-high 238.5 passing yards per game, a career-best 68 per cent completion rate and he accounted for 24 total touchdowns against just eight interceptions.
His performance was encouraging enough that the Colts front office decided to lock him up on a two-year deal that could be worth up $100 million based on incentives.
With a clean bill of health and a full training camp working with the first-team offence, Jones has a chance to prove the coaches and front office right in a tough test against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Jayden Daniels - Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles - 4:25 p.m.
Jayden Daniels has experienced some of the best and worst the NFL has to offer in his two seasons since the Washington Commanders selected him with the second-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Heisman Trophy-winning QB took home NFL Rookie of the Year honours two seasons ago, guiding the Commanders to the NFC championship game.
Last season was a different story, as Daniels missed time with three separate injuries, including a gruesome elbow injury in Week 14 that ended his season for good. He missed a total of 10 games and the Commanders finished 5-12, seven games worse than their stunning 2024 performance.
So, which version of Daniels will we see this season? The rookie who lit the league on fire with more than 3,500 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and an additional 891 yards rushing? Or the oft-injured sophomore whose per-game numbers plummeted as he struggled to stay on the field?
The Commanders’ brass is hoping for the former, and everything they’ve seen in camp indicates that Daniels may be ready to return to the form that made him look like a superstar two seasons ago.
“I love Jayden’s readiness,” head coach Dan Quinn said in a press conference on Sept. 1. “He took over 500 snaps in this training camp. That’s almost like a half season’s worth of reps.”
Part of the challenge given to Daniels in training camp has been incorporating a pair of new pass-catching weapons in tight end Chig Okonkwo and veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs into the rotation, and Quinn said Daniels has been “excellent” on that front.
“New system, but his call, his command, his ability to get in and out of things, it’s impressive,” Quinn added, per Commanders senior beat writer Zach Selby.
Daniels’ first test comes against the division-rival Eagles, a team he has accounted for six touchdowns against in two games in his career.
