Report: Colts work out Abbotsford, BC’s Claypool

Published:

Former Notre Dame standout Chase Claypool worked out for the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports.

The Abbotsford, BC last played in the NFL in 2023, playing a combined 12 games for the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins.

A 28-year-old wide receiver, Claypool was originally taken with the 49th overall selection of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers with whom he played the first two-plus seasons of his career. He posted campaigns of 873 and 860 yards, respectively, over his first two seasons. He was traded to the Bears midway through the 2022 season.

In 58 games over four seasons, Claypool has recorded 175 receptions for 2,261 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2024, but was cut prior to the season with an injury designation. He worked out for the Green Bay Packers this past May, but no contract was forthcoming.

Garafolo notes that the workout ended without a deal.
