The prognosis for Jaxson Dart is worse than originally thought.
ESPN’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report an MRI on the New York Giants quarterback’s injured knee was worse than anticipated and Dart now faces a spell on the sidelines that could even end his season.
Dart, 23, picked up the injury early in his team’s 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. On 3rd and 8 during the team’s first series, Dart was hit by Byron Young, who sent him into Josaiah Stewart, who was coming in to sack Dart from the other direction. He left the game and did not return with veteran Jameis Winston coming into spell Dart.
A native of Kaysville, UT, Dart is in his second season out of Ole Miss. He started 12 games during his rookie season, missing time with a concussion. Dart threw for 230 yards on 23-for-29 passing in the team’s 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
The Giants do not have a third QB on their current roster. They host the Tennessee Titans (0-2) on Sunday.
