ESPN’s Mike Garofalo reports the team is releasing the veteran quarterback.

The Eagles plan to move forward with Tanner McKee and Cole Payton backing up Jalen Hurts.

A native of Katy, TX, Dalton was in his 16th season out of TCU and first with the Eagles. His only appearance came in a 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears in which his lone pass attempt was intercepted.

Dalton has also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Bears, New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys. He is best-known for his nine-year stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, who took Dalton with the 35th overall selection of the 2011 NFL Draft. Dalton was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Bengals.

For his career, Dalton has thrown for 39,793 yards on 3,539-for-5,652 passing with 254 touchdowns and 152 interceptions.

The Eagles (2-2) head to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1) on Sunday.
