Sterling Shepard is back at the Meadowlands.
ESPN’s Mike Garafolo reports the former New York Giants receiver has signed with the New York Jets practice squad.
Shepard, 33, was released by the Houston Texans at the end of August. He spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shepard appeared in 10 contests last year, hauling in 34 passes for 349 yards and a touchdown.
A native of Oklahoma City, Shepard spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Giants, who originally selected him with the 40th overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. Shepard was first-team All-American with the Sooners in 2015.
In his 90 games with the Giants, Shepard recorded 372 receptions for 4,095 yards and 25 TDs.
After opening up their season with a 23-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday, the Jets return to Met Life Stadium for their home opener on Sunday to host the Green Bay Packers (0-1).
