SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers will be without yet another of their top receivers for the foreseeable future after Deebo Samuel Sr. suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win against the Seattle Seahawks.

After further testing on Samuel's right hamstring Monday, Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said that the injury "got him pretty good" and that the receiver is "going to miss some time." It's unclear exactly how much time Samuel will miss, but the Niners know they will be without him for at least the next couple of games and likely a bit longer.

The same is true of backup linebacker Garret Wallow, who also suffered a hamstring injury against the Seahawks. Shanahan, while noting that the injury is "not quite as bad" as Samuel's, said Wallow will miss "at least a couple of weeks."

Samuel left Sunday's 32-29 win against Seattle with 5:06 left in the third quarter. Although he'd been favoring the right leg earlier, Samuel didn't exit for good until he was tackled by Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas on the left sideline.

As Samuel went to the ground, he landed on the ball and then lost it. As he attempted to recover it, Samuel couldn't reel it back in and then stayed down.

The Niners medical staff ran out to help Samuel, who took a few minutes to get up and slowly make his way back to the sideline. The 49ers ruled out Samuel's potential return almost immediately.

The 49ers are down four of the top five wideouts they hoped to have entering the season. Ricky Pearsall (knee), De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle) and Demarcus Robinson (ankle) are on injured reserve.

Robinson is the closest to returning, though he's not eligible to open his 21-day practice window until after next Monday night's game against the Washington Commanders. He has been doing conditioning on a side field during practice in the past week.

Veteran Christian Kirk (calf) is on IR as well and eligible to return to practice, though Shanahan indicated that isn't likely to happen this week.

The 49ers enter Week 6 with Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks and Jacob Cowing as the available receivers on the roster. The team also has Will Pauling, Xavier Smith and Malik Turner on the practice squad.

"I think we have enough," Shanahan said. "We've got three guys on practice squad also who can help. I mean, anytime you lose this number of guys, whether it's four guys or five guys, whatever it is, it's a huge challenge. But we do have guys in this building who can do it, and we'll always look."

Wallow's injury in tandem with the one-game suspension for starting weakside linebacker Dre Greenlaw complicates matters for the Niners at linebacker at least for next week's game.

The Niners will lean on rookie Jaden Dugger with Luke Gifford and Tatum Bethune offering depth, but they could need to dip into the practice squad for Jalen Graham if Greenlaw's appeal is unsuccessful.

Shanahan said linebacker Nick Martin, who is on IR with a hamstring injury, is getting close and the team might look into opening his practice window this week.

In better injury news for the 49ers, Shanahan said defensive end Nick Bosa (calf), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (knee) and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. (ankle) could return this week.

"[They're] all kind of in the same boat," Shanahan said. "They all got a chance, but definitely not saying they're good to go right now. We've got to continue to evaluate them throughout the week and it'll take all week, but hopefully they can get there."
