Sirianni feels ‘complete support’ from Eagles owner Lurie

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said he continues to feel "complete support" from Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie amid a six-game losing streak.

"I've always felt nothing but complete support from Mr. Lurie in everything. Through good times, through bad times, that's huge to know the owner has your back in all situations," he said at his Wednesday news conference.

The Eagles dropped to 2-6 following a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders Sunday night. They enter this week's home game against the division-leading New York Giants dead last in the NFC East.

Their six-game losing streak is the franchise's longest since 2012 when they dropped eight in a row in Andy Reid's final year in Philadelphia.

The team has dealt with one blow after another, from quarterback Jalen Hurts being sidelined with blood clots in his lungs to the sudden retirement of right tackle Lane Johnson to injuries to a host of key players.

The offense, working under first-year coordinator Sean Mannion, ranks 30th in points per game (17.1) 28th in offensive efficiency (31.53) and 31st in first downs per game (16.1). The defense has not come close to meeting expectations, ranking 27th in efficiency (42.51), 26th in EPA (-30.68) and tied for last in opponent sacks per dropback (3.4%).

The Eagles have experienced a great deal of success under Sirianni, however. They made the playoffs in each of his first five seasons, went to the Super Bowl twice and became champions during the 2024 season. He entered the year with the third-highest career winning percentage (.694) in the Super Bowl era (minimum 50 games) behind only John Madden (.759) and Vince Lombardi (.738).

"We've been [at the] high of highs, we've been low, and I've felt nothing but support and my communication remains the same with him as it has whether we're on a winning streak or whether we're on a losing streak," Sirianni said of Lurie.

"I love that steadiness and I'm trying to give that same thing to the guys, the consistency, the steadiness, because I know I'm receiving it from the very top."
