Vikes’ Murray still in concussion protocol, but ‘feeling pretty good’

Kyler Murray is still in concussion protocol, but is beginning to feel better.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell updated the media on his starting quarterback a day after the Heisman Trophy winner was forced out of the team’s 39-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Murray, 29, exited in the first quarter, taking simultaneous hits from Javon Bullard and Lukas Van Ness while sliding.

“He came in feeling pretty good today,” O’Connell said. “He’s in the protocol, so we’ll defer to the medical folks and the protocol for how the week goes. We’ll just take it a day at a time. Other than that, I don’t have a lot of updates on that.”

Murray, in his Vikings debut, was three-for-five for 18 yards and an interception prior to the injury. He also ran for five yards.

Spelling the injured Murray, Carson Wentz came into the game and threw for 133 yards on 12-for-19 passing and three touchdowns in the victory. The Vikings overturned a 22-10 deficit, scoring 29 unanswered points including 22 in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings (1-0) return to action on Sunday with a visit to the Chicago Bears (1-0).
