The San Francisco 49ers tried to land cornerback Aqib Talib a couple days before they signed Richard Sherman.
According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, had Talib not rejected a trade to the 49ers, Sherman might still be looking for a new team.
An example of how simple decisions this week affect players, teams and futures.

Aqib Talib rejected a trade that was agreed to between Denver and SF; wouldn’t report. He later is traded to LA.
So SF doesn’t get its CB, Richard Sherman is released and he winds up in SF.
"Talib rejected a trade that was agreed to between Denver and San Francisco; wouldn't report," Schefter tweeted. "He later is traded to LA. So SF doesn't get its CB, Sherman is released and he winds up in SF."
Talib was traded to the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams days before Sherman signed a reported three-year deal with the 49ers.
