On the eve of July 1, there is a shakeup at the top of the TSN Free Agent Ranking board.
Two-time Stanley Cup-winning goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has risen to No. 1 – partly because of his exalted status and partly because of circumstances.
Nothing is official yet, but indications are that previously top-ranked pending UFA right defenceman Rasmus Andersson will re-sign with the Vegas Golden Knights.
And with fellow right defenceman John Carlson’s rights traded to the Stanley Cup-champion Carolina Hurricanes, the distinct possibility exists neither will make it to market.
But for now, Carlson remains in the top five moving from No. 2 to No. 3 – behind right defenceman Jacob Trouba - and Andersson drops to No. 15.
Bobrvosky, meanwhile, is first among our 50.
He may have recorded a save percentage below .900 for the first time in 14 years – but the 37-year-old surefire Hall of Famer is only one season removed from winning a second consecutive Cup.
