Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard suffered an apparent injury Thursday while practicing in Burnaby, B.C.
A video of the play was posted to X by @BlackhawksFocus and shows Bedard falling awkwardly into the boards after delivering a spin pass. He got up holding his left shoulder and skated to the other end of the ice in what appeared to be considerable pain while doubled over.
Bedard missed nearly a month last season with a right shoulder injury after being injured while taking a face-off. He did not play in this summer’s men’s IIHF World Championship in Switzerland in part due to rehabbing his shoulder.
The 20-year-old played in 69 games last season and tallied career-highs in goals (30) and assists (45). He now has 75 goals and 203 points in 219 career NHL games since being selected No. 1 overall in 2023.
