The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Saturday that they have signed restricted free agent defenceman Kevin Korchinski to a two-year, $2.65 million contract extension.
The deal carries an average annual value of $1.325 million.
Korchinski, 22, played in 53 games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs last season, scoring two goals with 26 points.
He also skated in 13 games with the Blackhawks, notching two assists.
Drafted seventh overall by Chicago in 2022, Korchinski spent the entire 2023-24 season in the NHL as a 19-year-old.
He is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract.
Internationally, Korchinski helped Canada win gold at the 2023 World Juniors.
The Saskatoon native has appeared in 105 career NHL games, scoring six goals with 19 points.
