The Columbus Blue Jackets suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres Friday night and also lost forwards Sean Monahan and Dmitri Voronkov to a pair of injuries.
Monahan suffered a lower-body injury late in the second period when he blocked a shot. He limped down the tunnel and was officially ruled out for the night as the third period began.
Voronkov suffered an apparent upper-body ailment in the final period and did not return. It was not immediately clear where he incurred his injury.
After the game, head coach Rick Bowness told reporters each player was still being evaluated.
Monahan played 11:06 and picked up an assist on the Blue Jackets’ only goal of the game before he departed. He also had one shot on goal, three blocked shots and spent 1:33 on the power play.
The 32-year-old has one goal and five assists for six points in 15 games so far this season, his third in Columbus.
Voronkov, 26, played eight minutes before leaving the game for good. He has two assists in 10 games so far this season.
The Blue Jackets will look to bounce back from Friday’s loss when they’re back in action on Tuesday at home against the Florida Panthers.
