The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenceman Carson Soucy to a one-year, $1.15 million contract on Tuesday.
Soucy was an unrestricted free agent attending Blue Jackets training camp on a PTO.
“Carson has had an excellent camp and has earned this opportunity, and we are very pleased to add him to our group,” said Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell. “He has good size and strength and will give us another steady, veteran presence on the blueline.”
The 32-year-old finished last season with the New York Islanders after he was dealt by the New York Rangers for a draft pick on Jan. 26.
He registered five goals and 12 points in 76 games while averaging 15:27 of ice time.
Drafted 137th overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2013, Soucy has 32 goals and 99 points in 441 career games split between the Wild, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, Rangers, and Islanders.
