The St. Louis Blues have claimed defenceman Justin Barron from the Nashville Predators and the New Jersey Devils have nabbed goalie Remi Poirier off waivers from the Dallas Stars, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.
Barron, 24, had nine assists in 52 games last season with Nashville while averaging 14:15 of ice time.
A first-round pick (25th overall) by Colorado in 2020, Barron was dealt to the Montreal Canadiens on March 21, 2022 along with a second-round pick in exchange for winger Artturi Lehkonen.
He played just over two seasons with the Canadiens before he was traded to Predators on Dec. 18, 2024 for defenceman Alexandre Carrier.
Poirier, 24, appeared in 52 games with the AHL’s Texas Stars, going 27-19-6 with a .912 save percentage with a 2.61 goals-against average.
He was a sixth-round pick (185th overall) by Dallas in 2020 and has yet to make his NHL debut.
