The Vancouver Canucks agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with defenceman Jack Thompson, the team announced on Friday.

The 24-year-old Thompson skated in 14 games with the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL this past season, where he scored three goals and finished with 13 points.

Thompson has played in 34 games in the NHL in his young career split between the Tampa Bay Lightning and San Jose Sharks. He has four goals and 10 points in the NHL.

A native of Courtice, Ont., Thompson was originally selected in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning. He has represented Canada internationally twice - at the 2018 World U17 Hockey Challenge, and at the 2022 World Juniors, where he helped Canada win gold.
