Canucks sign F Kampf to one-year, $1.1 million deal

The Vancouver Canucks signed forward David Kampf to a one-year, $1.1 million contract, general manager Patrik Allvin announced on Saturday.

Kampf, 30, played the last four seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and cleared unconditional waivers on Friday, setting the stage for him to become an unrestricted free agent.

The 6-foot-2 centre was in the third season of a four-year, $9.6 million contract that carried an annual cap hit of $1.25 million before his contract was terminated on Friday.

Kampf appeared in four games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies this season recording an assist. He had five goals and 13 points in 59 games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017, Kampf has 48 goals and 143 points in 536 career games split between the Blackhawks and Maple Leafs.
