The Washington Capitals placed forward Sonny Milano on waivers Wednesday.

The 29-year-old forward lost his place on the roster as Connor McMichael was activated from injured reserve.

Milano has four goals and eight points in 31 games with the Capitals this season after being limited to just three games last season. He is signed through this season at cap hit of $1.9 million and is scheduled for unrestricted free agency this summer.

Selected 16th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2014 draft, Milano has 66 goals and 145 points in 344 games with Columbus, the Anaheim Ducks and Capitals.

McMichael, 25, has eight goals and 31 points in 55 games this season. He posted a career-best 26 goals and 57 points in 82 games last season.
