Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier left Monday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the opening period and did not return.

Gauthier appeared to be hurt on a crosscheck from Toronto’s Jake McCabe in the opening period. Gauthier scored on the power play on the same sequence as McCabe’s hit but chatted with a trainer on the Ducks’ bench and went down the tunnel immediately after the celebration.

He played 3:20 before leaving, scoring on his only shot on net. The Maple Leafs went on to win 5-4 in overtime.

The 22-year-old has 38 goals and 37 assists for 75 points in 73 games so far this season, his third with the Ducks after coming over in a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Anaheim will be back in action on Wednesday evening in San Jose against the Sharks.
