After 13 seasons in the NHL, Calle Jarnkrok will be continuing his career in Sweden.
Jarnkrok signed a three-year contract of Brynas of the SHL on Monday after playing the last four seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The signing comes roughly nine months after Jarnkrok’s agent, Filip Andreason, took to social media in December to deny that a verbal agreement was in place for the forward to join Brynas once his NHL contract expired.
“In light of Aftonbladet’s article, Newport Sports can deny that Calle Järnkrok has a verbal agreement with Brynäs for next season,” Andreason said at the time, per a translation. “The information is incorrect and unfounded, and no negotiations are taking place with Brynäs or any other club for the upcoming season.”
Jarnkrok, 34, posted six goals and eight points in 56 games last season as he played out the last of a four-year, $8.4 million contract that carried a cap hit of $2.1 million.
A second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2010 draft, Jarnkrok spent four seasons with Brynas before making the move to North America in 2013.
He posted 143 goals and 316 points in 774 career games with the Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames and Maple Leafs.
