Flames acquiring Nemec from Devils for package including 2 firsts

Simon Nemec is on the move.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Calgary Flames are acquiring the impending restricted free-agent defenceman from the New Jersey Devils.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports two first-round picks will be part of the package heading to the Devils.

Nemec, 22, had 11 goals and 26 points in 68 games with the Devils last season while averaging 19:40 of ice time.

The 6-foot-1, right-shot defenceman is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract.

Drafted second overall by the Devils in 2022, Nemec has 16 goals and 49 points in 155 career games.

The Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, native represented his country at The Winter Olympics in February, registering two assists in a fourth-place finish. He also represented Slovakia at The Winter Olympics in 2022, recording an assist to take home a bronze medal.

Nemec represented his country three times at the World Hockey Championship from 2022 to 2024, finishing as high as seventh place.
