Taylor Hall’s goal at the 3:47 mark of the first period has given the Carolina Hurricanes a 1-0 lead over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday night.

Carolina leads the series 3-2, and are now 40 minutes away from winning their second Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

Hall took a long breakout pass from Hurricanes defenceman Jaccob Slavin and raced down the left side of the offensive zone before wiring a shot that beat Carter Hart on the glove side. Jackson Blake recorded a secondary assist on the play.

The goal was Hall’s seventh of the 2026 playoffs and second of the Stanley Cup Final.

Vegas had a pair of grade-A chances in the opening frame, but both were denied by Hurricanes goalie Brandon Bussi, who is making his third straight start in net after replacing Frederik Andersen between the pipes in Game 3.

Bussi stopped all 10 shots he faced in the period, highlighted by a breakaway stop on Brett Howden at four-on-four and a sprawling save on Pavel Dorofeyev with just seconds remaining in the frame.

Hart allowed just the one goal on eight shots.

Vegas will open the second period on the power play as Logan Stankoven serves the final seconds of a cross-checking minor taken at the 18:36 mark of the period.
