Hertl’s late winner leads Golden Knights past Hurricanes in Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final

Tomas Hertl scored the winner late in the third period as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday night.

Shea Theodore, Ivan Barbashev, William Karlsson and Brett Howden also found the net for the Golden Knights in the victory.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice for the Hurricanes, while Jordan Staal and Shayne Gostisbehere also had markers in the losing cause.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final will take place Thursday night in Raleigh, before the scene shifts to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday for Game 3.
