Hurricanes activate star F Jarvis from IR

Published:

The Carolina Hurricanes have activated Seth Jarvis from injured reserve, after the star forward missed the opening weeks of the season recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

In a corresponding move, the team assigned F Bradly Nadeau to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves and also recalled forward Skyler Brind’Amour from the Wolves.

Jarvis, 24, is making his return to the lineup well ahead of the original schedule. Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky told reporters on June 27 that Jarvis was likely to miss 4-to-6 months after having surgery shortly after the team captured the Stanley Cup.

Jarvis told The Associated Press in late September that he wanted to be back for a trip to Finland for Carolina’s two-game set against Seattle on Nov. 12 and 14, though he raised the possibility of returning by the end of October.

Just under four months after the initial surgery, Jarvis is back on the active roster, though the team did not announce whether he would be in the lineup in their next game, which is on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers.

The fifth-year player scored 32 goals and finished with 66 points in 71 games last season, and added four goals and 11 points in 19 games in the postseason to help the Hurricanes defeat the Vegas Golden Knights for the second Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

In 375 career NHL games, all with the Hurricanes, Jarvis has 128 goals and 279 points. He also played for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025 and at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, helping Canada win gold at the former and silver at the latter.
