Goaltender Jacob Markstrom will miss “a couple of weeks” with a lower-body injury, head coach Sheldon Keefe said Wednesday.
Markstrom was injured in the dying seconds of Monday’s 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 35-year-old is 2-1-0 to start the season with a .845 save percentage and a 3.89 GAA. He went 26-16-6 with a .900 save percentage and a 2.50 GAA in 49 games last season.
Netminder Nico Daws was recalled from the AHL earlier in the day, with forward Zack MacEwen being placed on injured reserve to clear a roster spot.
Winnipeg Jets
Hayden Fleury and Cole Koepke were both on the ice for practice Wednesday after missing time in Monday’s win over the New York Islanders after blocking shots.
The Jets are off again Wednesday before travelling to visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks placed defenceman Derek Forbort on the injured reserve list, it was announced Wednesday.
The move is retroactive to Oct. 11.
The 33-year-old has zero points in two games so far this season.
Chicago Blackhawks
Team captain Nick Foligno will be taking a “brief leave of absence as his daughter undergoes follow-up surgery related to her congenital heart disease,” the team announced.
Detroit Red Wings
Forward Lucas Raymond will not play in Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
He is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Florida Panthers
Defenceman Dmitry Kulikov will miss five months after having wrist surgery, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters Wednesday.
The 34-year-old was placed on the injured reserve list on Friday after being a injured a day earlier against the Philadelphia Flyers.
He had zero points in two games this season prior to going down.
Sergei Bobrovsky will start Wednesday’s game against the Red Wings.
