Goaltender Linus Ullmark will return for the Sens' home opener Thursday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
He was the first goalie off the ice at the team's gameday skate just three days after leaving early against the Boston Bruins Monday night. Head coach Travis Green then confirmed to reporters after the session that he will be in net tonight against the Flyers.
Ullmark did not dress for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings and Green said Ullmark "tweaked something" the day before when he was replaced in net by Samuel Ersson in the third period. The Sens recalled goaltender Jonas Johansson from the AHL's Belleville Senators on Wednesday with Ullmark sidelined but sent him back down Thursday morning.
Ullmark has stopped 37 of 39 shots he's faced this season for a .949 save percentage through two games.
He had a 2.73 GAA and an .891 save percentage in 49 games last season.
Hanna also reports that forward Andre Burakovsky and defenceman Artem Zub were on ice at the team's session. Neither player has played so far this season and won't be in tonight, but Green did say Thursday that each player was getting closer.
Meanwhile, defenceman Jake Sanderson was not on the ice Thursday morning. He has not played since coming out of Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after 4:29.

Montreal Canadiens

Jacob Fowler will make his first start of the season for the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, just one day after being recalled from the AHL’s Laval Rocket.
Fowler’s promotion came after after Sam Montembeault left practice early on Wednesday with an apparent lower-body injury. He is now in line to start against the Nashville Predators, while Montembeault has yet to play this season.
Montembeault left the ice on Wednesday afternoon seeming to favour his right leg. The 29-year-old Becancour, Que. native has served only as backup to Jakub Dobes in three Canadiens’ games to date. TSN's Kenzie Lalonde reported that Montembeault will be looked at by the doctors later today and there is no set timeline at the moment.
“It was tough. Nobody really knew what happened, and still not too sure….you think of how hard he's worked and what he's had to overcome in the last number of months, you never want to see anybody go down," teammate Cole Caufield said of Montembeault Thursday.
Fowler has a 1.53 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage in two games with the AHL's Laval Rocket so far this season.
Defenceman Adam Engstrom will also make his season debut, according to the team.
Blueliner Jayden Struble will come out of the lineup.

Carolina Hurricanes

Forward Seth Jarvis was in a regular sweater Thursday at Carolina Hurricanes practice as he continues to work his way back from off-season shoulder surgery, according to team reporter Walt Ruff.
Jarvis has yet to play so far this season. Ruff reports it's the first time he's been seen not in yellow.
Ruff adds that Jarvis was working as an extra on Thursday, which indicates he won't be returning Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are expected to roll with Pyotr Kochetkov in net Thursday night against the Canucks and they aim for their third straight victory. Here are the gameday lines according to Ruff:

Winnipeg Jets

Defenceman Josh Morrissey was forced out of Wednesday's game against the Colorado Avalanche with an upper-body injury.
He looked to have sustained the injury on an attempted check late in the first period when he went hard into the glass. He appeared to jam his hand or wrist and was favouring his right arm after the play.
“Just an upper-body. We’ll check on it tomorrow and see how it is," head coach Scott Arniel said after the game via Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Morrissey had one shot on goal and one blocked shot in 9:32 of ice time before departing. He played one shift in the second period before being ruled out for the rest of the night.
He has three assists in four games so far this season.
