The Winnipeg Jets completed a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday to acquire defenceman Jack St. Ivany in exchange for centre David Gustafsson, the team announced.
St. Ivany, 26, spent parts of the past three seasons with the Penguins, where he appeared in 53 games and recorded nine assists.
St. Ivany was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 20-18 NHL Entry Draft, and made his professional debut with the Penguins on March 22, 2024.
Gustafsson has spent his entire career with the Jets since the team selected him in the second round (60th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut a year later on Oct. 15, 2019, and appeared in 22 games that season with Winnipeg.
The 26-year-old played in parts of the following five seasons, appearing in a total of 149 games with Winnipeg and scoring six goals and tallying 20 points. He appeared in 48 games with the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose this past season, where he scored 10 goals and finished with 32 points.
