The Winnipeg Jets and forward Kyle Connor are getting closer to a contract extension, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that the focus is on completing an eight-year deal.

Connor is entering the final season of a seven-year, $50 million contact that he signed in 2019.

The 28-year-old appeared in all 82 regular season games last year and posted 41 goals with 56 assists for a career-high 97 points.

His best goal tally came in 2021-22 when he found the net 47 times.

Connor has spent his entire 613-game NHL career as a member of the Jets. Since making his debut during the 2016-17 season, he has 284 goals and 298 assists across nine campaigns.

He has also played in 58 playoff games for Winnipeg and has 20 goals and 29 assists in the postseason.
