The Los Angeles Kings announced Thursday that forward Kevin Fiala underwent a procedure related to his initial surgery to repair injuries he sustained at the 2026 Winter Olympics and will miss the start of training camp.
The team added that the timeline for his return to play will be “determined as he continues to recover.”
Fiala had surgery to repair fractures in his left lower leg in February and missed the remainder of the 2025-26 regular season.
He was taken off the ice on a stretcher late in Switzerland’s 5-1 loss to Canada on Friday at Milano Cortina 2026, after a collision with forward Tom Wilson. He was placed face down on the stretcher and had an aircast on his leg as he was wheeled off the ice.
Fiala had 18 goals and 40 points in 55 games with the Kings last season, his fourth with the club.
He was originally selected 11th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2014 NHL Draft. In 707 career games with the Preds, Kings and Minnesota Wild, Fiala has 229 goals and 528 points.
