With the Toronto Maple Leafs’ season over, rookie forward Easton Cowan was one of six players assigned to the AHL’s Marlies on Friday morning.

Goaltender Dennis Hildeby, defenceman William Villeneuve and forwards Luke Haymes, Ryan Tverberg and Jacob Quillan were also re-assigned to the AHL.

Cowan spent his first professional season with the Maple Leafs, scoring 11 goals with 29 points in 66 games. He also recorded one assist in two appearances with the Marlies.

The 20-year-old averaged 14:43 of ice time in 2025-26.

A first-round pick (28th overall) in 2023, Cowan helped the London Knights capture the Memorial Cup in 2025 as well as two OHL championships (2024 and 2025). He also earned the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as Memorial Cup MVP and took home the Red Tilson Trophy and Wayne Gretzky 99 Award in 2024.

The Marlies currently sit fourth in the North Division and have clinched a spot in the Calder Cup playoffs. They have two games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
