Toronto Maple Leafs centre David Kampf cleared waivers on Saturday and is now eligible to be sent to the American Hockey League, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.
Kampf, a 30-year-old from Czechia, appears to be the odd man out within a crowded forward group with pre-season play coming to an end.
Kampf scored just five goals and eight assists over 59 games last season with the Leafs, his fourth campaign in Toronto.
A veteran of eight NHL seasons, Kampf is entering the third season of a four-year, $9.6 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $2.4 million.
The Maple Leafs play their final pre-season game on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings before opening the season against the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.
