The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Nick Blankenburg to a one-year, $1.4 million contract on Sunday, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.
Blankenburg was an unrestricted free agent who attended Maple Leafs training camp on a PTO.
Blankenburg, 27, registered eight goals and 24 points in 61 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season while averaging 12:02 of ice time. He added a goal in five playoff games as the Avalanche fell in the Western Conference Final
The 5-foot-9, right-shot blueliner is coming off a two-year, $1.55 million contract.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2022, Blankenburg has 18 goals and 58 points in 176 career games split between the Blue Jackets, Nashville Predators, and Avalanche.
The Washington, Mich., native represented the United States at the 2022 World Hockey Championship in a fourth-place finish.
